Making a good impression in the community

one step at a time.

After nearly 100 applications and almost 500 letter of support, 13 organizations were chosen to receive grants from the FootPRINT Fund.

The grants will be used for printing, copying, mailing, signage, banners and other collateral material supporting the groups' communications needs.

The Allegra grant recipients are Assistance League of Tucson, Bag It, Diaper Bank, Homicide Survivors, Imagine Greater Tucson, Make Way for Books, Microbusiness Advancement Center, Primavera Foundation, UofA Skin Cancer Institute, Tucson Children's Museum, Tucson's Art Brigade, Tucson Festival of Books, and Youth on Their Own. The grant amounts range from $500 to $5,000.

"Community support is a core value at Allegra Print & Imaging on Park," said owner Peter Marcus. "Our FootPRINT Fund was a way to assist local organizations that make a difference in our community. We had almost 100 deserving organizations apply for a grant and wish we had funds to help all of them. After a rigorous selection process, 13 groups were identified to receive a FootPRINT grant."

The award recipients were selected by an independent volunteer review panel made up of Tucson business owners Paul Lindsey, chair of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, Mary Rowley of Strongpoint Public Relations, and Michael Dunne, public relations director of Cox Communications.

Grants were ranked based on the goals of the organization, potential positive impact within the community over the next 12 months, the organization's financial need, and the number of supplementary nominations received from supporters of the organization. Two organizations were also awarded additional grants toward news release and media relations consultation contributed by Strongpoint Public Relations and graphic design services provided by WHYFOR Design.
